Chatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi, Tulapur (Pune)

Today's travel is to visit Memorial place of great Maratha King Chatrapathi Sambhaji Maharaj which is 27 KMs away from Pimpri.

We started our journey at 9:30 AM from Pimpri. We took spine road and headed toward Alandi road, after crossing Alandi we went 12 KMs more to reach Tulapur reached our destination. We parked our car and reached the Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi Prawesh Dwar (gate) which looks great as it has statue of Sambhaji Maharaj killing Lion by tearing his mouth. Walking somewhat 20-30 steps we found the big statue of Sambhaji Maharaj. We clicked some photos there and moved ahead to reached Maharaj Samadhi. At this only place Maharaj took his last breath on 11^th march 1689 some 330 years ago. We could only imagine the courage, intellect, the inner strength to bear torcher for 40 odd days was something out of the world. A great salute to a great King.

Just to the left of Maharaj Samadhi you can see Sangameshware Mandir. This Mandir is an ancient temple and it was renovated by Sahaji Maharaj and inaugurate by Jijau Mata (Grandparents of Samhaji Maharaj and parents of the Great Shivaji Maharaj). In this very temple of Lord Siva, at the childhood Shivaji Maharaj take the oath of Swaraj.

 This Temple is situated at the confluence (Sangam) of three river Bhima, Bhama and Indrayani Rivers. This Sangam is called equivalent to Kashi, Gaya and Prayag Tirth Sthan.

After temple, we came down to ghat we hire a boat that takes us to the other bank of river. Boat will change 50 Rs per person for pick-up and drop from the other river bank. On the other bank there is farm and the farmer will take nominal changes for having you spend time at place. We had our lunch over there and had good rest. It was a very good, calm and peaceful place to be in from city rush and noise.  

Now it’s time to return, we called boat and he dropped us on the ghat and from there we again went to Samadhi for giving our gratitude as we are leaving.

It is really a nice place and wonderful experience to visit such place full of emotion and which tell you a lot about the history and the greatness of the Soul.
